George Mason University has partnered with eCampus to provide course materials, replacing Barnes & Noble College. The transition will occur in phases throughout June, with eCampus officially launching on July 1.
Following a competitive RFP process in fall 2025, eCampus was selected for several reasons:
eCampus launches July 1. Faculty should continue submitting all summer and fall course material adoptions in the current Barnes & Noble portal per their ongoing email communications. Data will transfer automatically to eCampus.
Yes. Faculty will submit course materials through eCampus’s Faculty Administration and Support Tool (FAST). A link will be available via Canvas, GMU’s learning management system, later this summer.
Faculty will use the Faculty Administration and Support Tool (FAST), a web-based platform to research, compare, and submit course materials. FAST offers a guided step-by-step workflow, real-time pricing and availability comparisons, access to OER and alternative materials, and the ability to reuse past adoptions. Faculty maintain full academic freedom to choose materials that best fit their curriculum, and support is available through virtual training sessions, online help, and dedicated resources. We are working on setting up the tool, and will share upcoming training sessions in the upcoming months.
Yes, eCampus will import adoptions for existing course materials into its platform and secure inventory accordingly.
The latest availability information for each course material is listed under “Publisher Availability” within the adoption system. This information is provided as a helpful guide during the selection process and does not affect or change your submitted adoption choices.
In many cases, we are still able to source older or out-of-print titles through alternative channels. Our team works proactively and in good faith to address potential availability concerns early while minimizing impacts to both instructors and students.
Yes — and then some. eCampus provides access to more than 10 million titles in print and digital formats, including textbooks, eBooks, and Open Educational Resources (OER), available as new, used, rental, and digital options
Faculty should submit summer and fall course materials as soon as possible. Going forward, the adoption due dates will remain the same:
In addition to new, used, rental, and digital options, students will have access to the eCampus Marketplace — a platform with over 90,000 third-party sellers listing more than 20 million titles. The Marketplace is also integrated with Amazon, giving students even more competitive pricing options. Students can save anywhere from 5% to 95% compared to standard retail prices.
Yes. A dedicated eCampus account team will be available to guide you through the transition.
Full support information will be available at launch on July 1. In the meantime, contact [email protected].
