George Mason University and Chartwells Higher Education announce a significant advancement in campus sustainability: all four residential dining halls have achieved the 3-Star Certification from the Green Restaurant Association (GRA). The recognition marks a new milestone in the strategic partnership between the University’s Auxiliary and Business Services and Chartwells Higher Education, positioning Mason Dining as a leader in sustainable campus operations. For students, this certification translates into tangible improvements in their daily dining experience, from expanded plant-forward menus to comprehensive waste-reduction initiatives.
Print & Mail Services completed the installation and system configuration of new smart lockers in the mail hub, enabling students to conveniently access their packages by simply tapping their Mason ID. The enhanced system will provide a more secure, efficient, and seamless pickup experience ahead of the fall semester.
Student Centers and Mason Exhibitions partnered to launch the new Patriot Perspectives Art Gallery in the Johnson Center, creating a dedicated space to showcase artwork and photography by students, alumni, and staff. The inaugural, pilot exhibition features work by George Mason alumna and former staff member Sisc Johnson, with exhibits planned to rotate each semester.
Parking & Transportation received an International Parking & Mobility Institute award for Excellence Honorable Mention for the implementation of the Metropolis parking system at Mason Square. Director of Parking Services, Josh Cantor, accepted the award at the annual conference in Milwaukee, which recognized George Mason’s leadership in parking innovation.
